My suggestion is read through the autofs docs and play with autofs for
an hour or two before asking for any further help.

simple udev rules.
/media/cdrom
/media/ebook
/media/pendrive
etc.
I simply can cd to the directory and the kernel will automount the
device if it's present. There are other options however.
That works for cd and single pendrives, but I have a few drives, which ar=

Is nobody automounting under fluxbox? I can open nautilus ant mount fr=

used by backup scripts, and therefore expect a specific mountpoint. In
addition, having the device mounted to a mountpoind based on the name of =

device, is a nice sanity check for the backup script: if /media/backup do=
esnot exist, then the backup fails, in contrast to backing up to
/media/externalhdd, which would be there irrespective of the external hdd=

So: for certain cases that works, for my needs unfortunately not.
