How can I ensure that no application goes below the top of the toolbar.
I have setup all my apps to be on the "normal layer"..the toolbar is set to
Desktop, but I can still drag them past the top of the toolbar thus hiding
the size handle.

Set the "Maximize over" property. If you right click on the lower-left
corner of your toolbar, you can select that in the Toolbar menu that
pops up.

Sorry, maybe I was not clear. You need to *unset* the "Maximize over" property.

Sorry, nope. I set it and I can still drag apps
below the top of the toolbar, and when I maximize an app
the bottom will be behind the toolbar. I must be missing
something. I am used to IceWm which prevents this sort
of thing.

assuming with "below" you mean "depth-wise": put the toolbar onto a
* bottom
* desktop
cheers,
mathias
Well that works....sort of....but I can size the app so it still
goes over the toolbar...but at least the size handles are still
visible. What I was hoping for was a way to make the toolbar "no-go"
territory...so an app could not be dragged over or under it and maximize would
stop at the toolbar. Am I making myself clear? I dunno :)

Hummm. Well I guess I can live with that for now. Strange, most wm's
don't treat the toolbar like that.
